Why am I achy and sore?
Many times an ache or soreness feels like muscle pain, but isn’t triggered by any particular movement and the same pain can be in different areas at the same time, or different times!
The cause could be your fascia (“fash-ya”), Fascia is a sheet of connective tissue that connects every cell to every other cell in your body. It is made up of densely packed protein fibers that weave throughout the entire body. Fascia supports your muscles, bones and organs. When it is injured through trauma, surgery or repetitive motion (or lack of motion), it can affect your body, showing up as unexplained pain.
Bodyworkers have been passionate about fascia for decades, the most popular style called Myofascial Release. There are a lot of different styles of fascial release available. John F Barnes Myofascial Release being one of the best known as it has been around for a long time.
Recent scientific studies have been done to understand the affect of fascial restrictions on the body and it is becoming a hot topic in the medical, self-help and fitness fields.
